Borrowing decision guide

One Application, Several Income Sources

Several income sources can support one borrowing plan, but each dollar should be counted only once. Reconcile paychecks, contract work, recurring benefits and other receipts by source and period before choosing an amount or payment.

Reconcile My Income Sources

List each source only once

Record the original income event, not every account movement. A salary deposited into checking and then transferred to savings remains one salary payment.

Give each entry a source label, covered dates, gross or net basis and a transfer flag. Borrowed money, refunded deposits and movements between your own accounts are not automatically new earnings.

Match each amount to information

company information Match it with Avoid
Payroll Payslip and deposit for the same period Counting gross and net as separate incomes
Contract work Invoice/payment and relevant costs Treating unpaid invoices as received cash
Recurring pension or benefit Award/payment record and period Replacing restrictions with assumed cash availability
Other recurring receipts Genuine supporting document Calling every deposit recurring income

The lender decides which information its process requires. The calculator organizes the record; it does not approve the income.

Separate recurring and one-off money

Keep a recurring baseline apart from one-time receipts. An unusually large project payment or asset sale can improve the current cash position without supporting the same payment every month.

Show both views: money currently available for the expense and recurring money used to support future installments. This avoids building a repayment plan on a receipt that will not recur.

Show a conservative combined budget

Normalize each included source to the same time basis. Weekly income uses an explicit annualization; biweekly income is not treated as twice monthly. Keep net take-home figures separate from gross figures.

Run a second view excluding uncertain or irregular income. If the new payment fits only when every uncertain amount arrives, preserve that dependency rather than treating it as a reliable baseline.

Only continue where the requirement is confirmed

Reconcile My Income Sources produces a combined ledger, transfer warnings and a list of unsupported items. Then use the budget tool to test a payment.

Save the explanation for any difference between statements and the income total. A clear record is more useful than an inflated total.

Confirmed, Failed and Unknown Personal Loans Multiple Income Sources Conditions

Normal: A $2,000 net payroll deposit and $400 net recurring side-work income total $2,400 under the stated monthly basis.

Edge: Moving $500 of that payroll into savings does not raise total income to $2,900.

Incomplete: A $600 deposit has no known source or period. The calculator lists it as unresolved rather than adding it to recurring income.
