This is a cost calculator, not advice about which treatment you need.
Start with the written treatment quote
Ask the dental office for the planned procedures, quoted charges, payment dates and any alternatives the clinician considers appropriate. Keep elective or separately scheduled work apart from the immediate amount you intend to authorize.
The planner does not rank clinical options. Its job is to keep financing comparisons tied to the same quoted scope.
Check the cash price and insurance portion
Enter the cash price and any different financed price separately. Obtain confirmation of the insurer's share; a benefits estimate is not cash already credited by the dental office.
Do not subtract both an insurance adjustment and a payment when they are two descriptions of the same reduction.
Read deferred-interest conditions carefully
Read whether a promotion is a genuine interest-free period or deferred interest that becomes payable if its conditions are not met. The CFPB warns that medical and dental financing arrangements can involve deferred-interest features. CFPB: Medical credit cards and payment plans
Record the promotion's end date, required payoff balance and what happens if money remains due. A minimum payment may not be enough to clear the balance before that date.
Compare the payment schedule before signing
| Comparison question | What to record |
|---|---|
| Can the balance be cleared before the promotion ends? | Required payoff divided across available payment dates |
| What if one payment is delayed? | Contractual consequences; do not assume a grace period |
| What does the alternative cost? | Same net amount, term, mandatory fees and total paid |
| Who receives payment? | Dental office, finance company or bank |
Finance only the remaining verified gap
Use the financing gap after confirmed coverage and cash contributions. Compare the full scheduled payoff amount, not just a promotional headline.
If the payment needed to satisfy a promotion is beyond your budget, show the ordinary-price or missed-condition case. Do not make affordability depend on perfect timing that your income cannot support.
Three Ways the Dental Financing Loans Gap Can Change
Normal: $1,200 is due, with $300 confirmed insurance and $300 available cash. The gap is $600. A hypothetical six-month interest-free payoff would require $100 monthly before any fees.
Edge: the minimum requested payment is only $40. Six such payments total $240 and leave $360; that does not satisfy a full-payoff condition.
Incomplete: the deferred-interest clause is missing. Do not label the plan free or rank it as the cheapest option.
